WASH BEFORE USEGraceDue to the rug's material (natural cotton) and woven structure, it's unfortunately an ideal bed for carpet beetles. I started having carpet beetle issues after using this rug, even though I vacuumed it thoroughly before use and I clean my home every week. Perhaps the bugs migrated from the warehouse? I first thought the cause was somewhere else, but I was horrified to see the pests embedded underneath the rug. The size and neutral color is great for my use, but PLEASE make sure to wash it beforehand. I'd rather have a slightly shrunken rug than beetles. 1
Major shrinkageSusanI really like the colors and design, but the shrinkage that occurs with washing is significant, much more than the 5% advertised. After one wash in cold water and hanging to dry, the rug is now 101 x 68, so 5 inches narrower and 9 inches shorter.3

Pretty rug!KeishaIt is really pretty but it didn’t work for our area. If we had an appropriate spot e would have kept it. You’d definitely want to put some type off slip proof base underneath it if you don’t have it anchored down under furniture and it’s on a wood floor.5
This rug is a definite pass from me.AntonellaI have pets, and purchased this rug because it is listed as washable-It gives instructions for washing, but also says to consider taking it to a professional due size. I have a front load washer, and attempted to wash the largest size-It is no larger than my king sized quilt, and I felt this was something my washer could handle-HUGE mistake! Once wet it became unbelievably heavy, it knocked around my washer, it shed, causing the first clog in the filter my machine has experienced, and once out of the washer, it was hung up to dry, and it shrank by at least 6% measured width wise. I would have been better off purchasing a drop cloth and decorating it with paint.Ikea, you are the best, but this rug is not reasonably washable, and probably shouldn’t be advertised as such.1
