Rest and recharge in this adorable character cottage in the seaside town of Whitby. Sleeping three guests, this coastal bolthole suits couples and small families. The property enjoys a prime location, just 0.5 miles from the idyllic old town. Whitby is a great base for walkers, with The Cleveland Way passing through the town and the tranquil tracks and trails of the North York Moors National Park just a short car journey away (approx. 2 miles).
A flight of external stairs takes you to the front door of this 200-year-old cottage. Inside, discover a bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Test out new recipes in the bespoke kitchen area, and gather around the drop-leaf dining table for memorable mealtimes. Sumptuous sofas are arranged around a wood burner-effect gas fire and a Smart TV/DVD, creating a cosy nook for movie nights over a bottle of wine. Cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor, where you’ll find an elegant double bedroom and a fun, seaside-themed single that would be perfect for a child. A sleek shower room completes the accommodation. Outside, down a few steps, is a shared patio area with a bench - the ideal place to sit with a morning coffee.
Head down to the harbour (1 mile) to sample some delicious, fresh seafood, or perhaps hop on a boat to go wildlife watching (dolphins and whales are often spotted off the coast). Here, you’ll also discover the fascinating Captain Cook Memorial Museum. Whitby’s old town is a short 0.5-mile walk away, with its cobbled streets and a plethora of independent shops and eateries. From here, climb to the headland, where you can admire Whitby Abbey and join the coastal path to explore the nearby villages, including the smugglers’ haunt of Robin Hood’s Bay (6 miles).

An excellent little cottage, and set back enough to not be disturbed by noise. Some beautiful views from all windows. Would definite have booked again for later in the year but sadly was already taken.

We had a lovely holiday in Pear Tree cottage. The cottage itself is very well kept and was kitted out with all the essentials we needed for our stay. It had the most generous welcome package I've ever experienced! We had a lovely 3 night stay at your cottage. The xmas decs were a lovely addition and the welcome pack was very thoughtful. Whitby is our local and favourite resort on the east coast, so it was nice to spend a few days/nights here. Many thanks and a Happy New Year to you both.
