The first time I watched it, I was deployed in Afghanistan, which is not a good place to watch this movie, especially the first time... When your daughter is so far away... I have watched it atleast 20 times since, and love it more each time. Denzel is amazing. Walken is amazing. Dakota is amazing. And the story.. Denzel is as strong as ever in this role, and the rest of the cast is very good. The speech by the Walkin character to the Giannini character sums it all up. This way of shooting directs the audience to the chaos of the plot. The chemistry between Washington and Fanning is compelling as the two struggle to find some common ground. The story was interesting enough to capture and hold my attention even though some parts were indubitably expected. It's 2004 so you expect 2004 storytelling...did it age well? I think it did.
