Kancan is a popular clothing brand based in the United States. Although it is arguably most well-known for its jeans, Kancan has other apparel items like tops, dresses, and outerwear, too.
If you’re a fan of this brand, you probably want to know how to find a Kancan style number. As someone who used to work at Plato's Closet, a buy-sell-trade store, I became proficient in finding style numbers for brands such as this one.
So in this post, we will go over multiple methods for finding your Kancan item number. We discuss strategies for both jeans and other apparel items. So let’s jump in!

Kancan Style Number Structure
When attempting to find a Kancan style number, it’s important to know exactly what you’re looking for. In general, Kancan style numbers are a combination of letters and numbers.
All Kancan items, no matter the type, will have a style number starting with the letters “KC.” The numbers and letters following will vary depending on the type of item.
If you’re looking for a Kancan style number for a pair of jeans, you will see four numbers followed by one letter after the “KC”. For example, it may read KC0000A.”
Alternatively, if you want to locate a style number for a different apparel item (such as a dress or top), you will see 5 numbers and two letters following the “KC.” For example, it may look like this: KC00000AB.”
Now that we know what we’re looking for, let’s get into how to locate these style numbers.
Using The Kancan Inner Tag
The first place to look for a Kancan style number is on the inner care instructions tag. On a pair of jeans, this can be found somewhere in the inside waistband.
If it is a different apparel item, it will likely be found on the lefthand seam of the garment. For this example, we’re going to use a pair of my Kancan jeans.
This care instructions tag is located to the left of the front zip and button. The style number is luckily easily marked here!
Underneath the brand name, you can see where the tag says STYLE#. In this example, the style number reads “KC9131D.”
With this information, you can perform a Google search. Input the brand and style number that you just found into the search bar.
After searching, you should see the style name, stock photos, and online listings for your Kancan item.
However, especially if you’re shopping secondhand or if it’s a Kancan item that you’ve had forever, the tag may be missing. If that is the case, we still have a few more options for finding your Kancan style number.
Using Google Lens
In this section, we will discuss how to use the Google Reverse Image Search method. In order to do this, first make sure you have the Google app or the Google Lens app downloaded onto your phone.
Next, lay your item flat on the ground or hang it on a hanger. Take a picture of your Kancan item, and upload it to a Google image search or to the Google Lens app.
From here, you should start to see visual results that resemble your Kancan item. You will likely see listings from secondhand marketplaces like Poshmark and eBay, or even pictures of the item from the retailer itself.
You may have to go down a few rabbit holes to find exactly what you’re looking for. However, I have to mention that this method does not work well for all items.
Typically this method works best for items with unique colors, patterns, and/or styles. That means this method may not work well for your Kancan jeans.
But not to worry, we still have one more trick up our sleeves for finding a Kancan style number!
Using Keyword Descriptors
Lastly, you can use item descriptors to help find your Kancan garment. You are going to want to explain the item in a lot of detail.
Specifically for a pair of jeans, note the color, length, waist, hem, and any special embellishments like embroidery, distressing, or other unique features.
For a top or dress, note the sleeve length, neckline, color, pattern, and more. These are all just a few examples of item descriptors.
Make sure to evaluate your item, take it all in, and get creative! Also, don’t be afraid to modify your phrase if you don’t find what you’re looking for the first time.
