Biggest Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 Leaks & Rumors (2024)

Summary

  • Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 leaks reveal abilities for new characters Robin (support) & Boothill (DPS) in Penacony.
  • A new Trailblazer form is rumored to be an Imaginary Harmony unit, buffing allies & boosting damage.
  • Leaks suggest new gameplay mechanic with enemies having several layers of Toughness.

There have been several Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 leaks and rumors so far, ahead of the update’s release in early May. The next patch for the turn-based RPG by HoYoverse is expected to continue the main campaign questline set in Penacony, the Planet of Festivities. This will be the third major update in the new destination, introduced earlier this year with the release of Version 2.0. There are a few details that have already been confirmed for Version 2.2, such as the new playable characters, though that pales in comparison to the information provided by leaks in Honkai: Star Rail.

This article contains spoilers about the events that take place in the missions added with Versions 2.0 and 2.1, as well as speculation on what may happen in Version 2.2 quests based on past occurrences.

For the upcoming patch, HoYoverse has revealed two new playable characters: Robin and Boothill. Both these heroes are confirmed to be 5-star units, though their gameplay styles are expected to be very different from one another. Robin is a Harmony character, which means she takes on a support role in team comps, while Boothill is a new Hunt unit, specializing in dealing massive single-target damage. Both deal Physical DMG, though little else has been officially revealed. Nevertheless, many leaks outline their skill sets, as well as reveal more upcoming content, including a new Trailblazer form in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2.

The arrival of Honkai: Star Rail 2.1 sets a new standard in quality for upcoming patches, from characters to deep narrative development and more.

8 Trailblazer’s New Form In Honkai: Star Rail 2.2

Protagonist Is Rumored To Be An Imaginary Harmony Unit

Aside from the two new playable characters, it is rumored that there will be a third unit added with the patch in the form of a new Trailblazer variation. The new Trailblazer form has been leaked and it seems like players will finally be able to unlock an Imaginary DMG protagonist who follows the Path of the Harmony. Since this is a flex character who is capable of changing their Path and Element based on necessity whenever they are in the spotlight, this seems fitting.

In the Penacony storyline in Honkai: Star Rail, players are visiting a planet aligned with the Harmony.

So far, the leaks, such as the one shared in a now-deleted post on Reddit, highlight that the new Trailblazer will operate by buffing allies for increased damage, and their specialty lies in increasing Break DMG against targets, as well as boosting allies’ Toughness-Reducing DMG to inflict Weakness Break more often. The leak also mentions that enemies’ actions will be delayed with Weakness Break, a detail that makes the rumored support Trailblazer in Honkai: Star Rail seem somewhat like the F2P (free-to-play) version of Ruan Mei.

7 Robin’s Leaked Gameplay Kit In Honkai: Star Rail May Forward Allies’ Actions

Character Has Been Compared To Bronya & Other Supports

Robin has been confirmed as a support unit in Version 2.2, following the Path of the Harmony and dealing Physical DMG. Her gameplay kit has not been officially unveiled yet, but details about how she operates have been leaked abundantly. In a leak obtained by Dimbreath, shared by a user on Reddit, it is revealed that Robin may specialize in buffing allies’ output damage and forwarding their actions so that they may strike opponents in Honkai: Star Rail before being attacked.

According to the leaks, she also regenerates Energy as teammates attack, meaning she can likely use her Ultimate, granting offensive buffs and triggering Action Forward quite frequently. Because of her effects, she has been compared to Bronya and other supports like Sparkle. It is uncertain exactly how she will perform on the battlefield given the stat changes to her kit during the beta sessions for the upcoming version, but it ultimately may not be worth pulling for her in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2.

6 Boothill Is A Powerful DPS Unit In Honkai: Star Rail 2.2

Character Is Rumored To Reduce Toughness At A Higher Rate

As expected of a character who follows the Path of the Hunt, Boothill is rumored to be a powerful Physical DMG DPS unit in the game. Like Robin, his gameplay kit has not yet been revealed, but it has been leaked. In updated leaks shared by HomDGCat on Reddit, players can get an insight into what to expect from the sharpshooter. The leaks highlight that Boothill can enter a Standoff state with a single opponent, increasing the damage both of them receive when battling each other and reducing the incoming damage from other enemies in Honkai: Star Rail.

The leaks also mention that Boothil is capable of inflicting Physical Weakness on chosen opponents, delaying their actions, and even boosting his own Toughness- Reducing DMG. From the looks of the rumors, it seems like this DPS unit will live up to the Path of the Hunt and single out opponents, destroy them at a fast rate by exploiting newfound weaknesses and his higher damage output, and proceed to the next. Unlike Robin, Boothill’s character model in Honkai: Star Rail has not yet appeared in-game.

His voice can be heard when he calls Acheron and ends up having a conversation with Black Swan.

5 Leaked Weekly Boss Is Coming With Honkai: Star Rail 2.2

The Support Trailblazer May Have A Special Skill

According to leaks, there will be a new weekly boss coming with Version 2.2. The boss has been leaked multiple times by several different sources and it seems like the opponent players will be facing is an enhanced and monstrous form of Sunday. This weekly boss should be the embodiment of the Harmony and will fight as if they were conducting an orchestra. Another leak shared by HomDGCat in a now-deleted post on Reddit indicates that this is, in fact, a weekly boss in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2.

Building Aventurine adequately in Honkai: Star Rail is an important part in unlocking his powers as one of the strongest shielders in the game.

The leaker’s report states that the new Trailblazer form will have a special ability during the fight, much like Imbibitor Lunae when fighting Cocolia or the robot arm during Cocolia’s battle. The ability allegedly deals a load of damage against this new weekly boss, helping reduce their Toughness and eventually inflict Weakness Break on them. Because of the possible story spoilers, it is unlikely HoYoverse will confirm this as an opponent and, instead, not highlight the new weekly boss too much during the Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 livestream in late April.

4 New Gameplay Mechanic May Enhance Honkai: Star Rail’s Challenge

Enemies May Get Several Layers Of Toughness

Yet another leak provided by HomDGCat on Reddit shows that the RPG is expected to get a new gameplay mechanic that may significantly increase its challenge. As seen in the leak, there will be some new enemies arriving with the patch, and these will come with several layers of Toughness. If true, this effectively means that players will need to knock down several barriers of protection before being able to deal raw, unblocked damage against these rumored enemies in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2.

HomDGCat’s leaks highlight that the opponents only really enter the Weakness Break state when the final layer of Toughness is destroyed, which then triggers post-break effects. This is when players will be able to deal the most damage against them, so the strategy here, if the leak is accurate, will be hitting them with as much damage they are weak against as possible in order to break down the Toughness layers and then going all out to destroy them before they recover from Weakness Break in Honkai: Star Rail.

Characters who prolong the Weakness Break state, such as Ruan Mei, may be beneficial when fighting these opponents.

3 F2P Light Cone For Acheron May Arrive In Honkai: Star Rail

Item May Be Best In Slot After Her Signature Weapon

Another leak shared by HomDGCat in a now-deleted post on Reddit shows that there is a new 4-star F2P Light Cone that seems to be tailor-made for Acheron. The Lightning DPS character is very different from most other Nihility units in the sense that she does not specialize in DoT (damage-over-time) effects per si, but uses debuffs to charge her Ultimate and then deal raw damage, much like a Destruction or Hunt DPS. In fact, Acheron’s build in Honkai: Star Rail even uses CRIT stats, which is uncommon for Nihility characters.

The leaked Light Cone is said to be the 4-star F2P equivalent of her signature weapon. The item, speculated to be called Boundless Choreo is a Nihility Light Cone that boosts CRIT Rate and increases CRIT DMG to certain debuffed enemies. This seems to be perfect for Acheron and may have been left out of Version 2.1 in an attempt to get players to try and pull for her signature 5-star Light Cone. Now, those who had to rely on substitutes for her 5-star weapon may finally have the best 4-star Light Cone for Acheron in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2.

2 Acheron’s Real Name May Be Revealed In Honkai: Star Rail

Leaked Name Can Establish Some Solid Connections To The Franchise

In a leak shared by HXG on Reddit, there are indications that Acheron’s real name may be revealed with Version 2.2. According to the post tagged as “Questionable” on the platform, the Lightning DPS is actually called Raiden Mei, which establishes a straightforward connection to the larger Honkai franchise. She has already explained to Welt that she is not the Raiden Mei he knows from the events of Impact 3rd, but adding her name to Acheron’s background hints at a much more important character than she may have initially presented herself as in Honkai: Star Rail.

If her name truly is Raiden Mei, this may be a way of HoYoverse hinting at a more constant presence from Acheron during the campaign – after all, Raiden Mei is one of the closest people to Kiana, Honkai Impact 3rd’s protagonist. If the revelation of her name and, possibly, more depth into her identity as the Emanator of Nihility, means anything at all, Acheron may show up more times during the story, beyond the reaches of Penacony in Honkai: Star Rail.

1 Sam’s True Identity Needs To Be Explored In Honkai: Star Rail 2.2

After Suspicions, Rumors About The Stellaron Hunter Were Confirmed

At the very end of the Trailblazer Quests added with Version 2.1, it is revealed that Sam is the Stellaron Hunter identity used by Firefly, originally thought to have been killed during the events of Version 2.0. This means that not only is Firefly alive and well, but she is also one of the strongest Stellaron Hunters out there. Nothing else aside from the revelation was shown in the quests of Honkai: Star Rail, but there is more inbound.

After such a mind-bending piece of information, it is impossible that this event will not be explored further in Version 2.2. As this seems like the update that ends the main Penacony storyline for now, it is very likely that players will finally discover Firefly’s true motivations and what is going on with the Family, the Watchmaker, and the threats that lurk in the Planet of Festivities in Honkai: Star Rail.
